A warm welcome from Katie De Luca, Chair, Research Foundation, Chiropractic Australia, click here

More than a year has passed since we connected in person to share research directly related to chiropractic or osteopathic practice. This year the Researchers’ Day will aim to connect us all again in a COVID-19 safe environment, join us as we learn about new research and where this will lead us.

In line with our commitment to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all of our valued Members and Presenter, we have responded to present circumstances by deciding to deliver the Researchers’ Day virtually on Friday, 27 August 2021.

[EventDescriptionShort] =>

Chiropractic Australia is an organisation that supports evidence-based practice and, as such, is a strong advocate for high-quality research.

Through our related research fund, Chiropractic Australia Research Foundation, we are able to fund research projects and PhD scholarships that directly support the chiropractic profession as well as related healthcare professions.

Chiropractic Australia Research Foundation calls for scientific abstracts to be submitted for presentation at the Researchers’ Day.

Sasha PhD investigated pain sensitivity and the impact of spinal manipulation in people with low back pain.

Sasha is a practicing chiropractor, early-career researcher, and educator in Perth, Western Australia.

She completed her PhD at Murdoch University in 2020, which investigated pain sensitivity and the impact of spinal manipulation in people with low back pain.

Sasha has been teaching at Murdoch University since 2013, and is a fellow in the second cohort of the Chiropractic Academy for Research Leadership (CARL). She is interested in the neurophysiological and biomechanical effects of spinal manipulation, and especially how they relate to clinical outcomes. Related interests include sham manipulation procedures, and the impact of contextual factors (e.g. placebo) on patient outcomes. Personally, Sasha is an avid dog lover and hobby photographer.

John's keen interest in Soccer and his desire for overseas travel found him working as Team Chiropractor for Grimsby Town Football club in Northern England, whilst also practicing at local clinics.

On his return to Australia, John set up his private practice in Leichhardt, NSW, where he still practices.

John's practice has gradually evolved from a solo chiropractic clinic into a multidisciplinary allied health centre.

John's early interest in research started during his early studies at Macquarie University, this interest, fueled by a desire to understand why some patients improved while others did not, drove him to undertake his PhD.

John's special skills and interest are based on helping people recover from ongoing back and neck pain, ongoing and recurring sports injuries, whilst facilitating a team of psychologists and occupational therapists, in helping the whole person recover from anxiety and depression related to the effects of ongoing back and neck pain.
