Approach to the Dizzy Patient

CPD Hours: 2.0 Formal

In this program you will learn about the anatomy and physiology of balance. You will learn how the different structures of balance are interrelated, and how to take the clinical history of a dizzy patient and perform a comprehensive physical examination. The program will also cover BPPV and its management with exercises.

Learning Outcomes

At the completion of this program participants should:

  • Have a good understanding of anatomy of balance and the interrelationship of its component parts
  • Be able to distinguish between dizziness and vertigo
  • Be able to distinguish between peripheral and central dizziness
  • Be able to apply various manoeuvres for treating BPPV
  • Know when and how to use desensitisation exercises for dizzy patients
